We are one of the leading design and engineering consultants for facades, natural stone and construction materials.

Sustainability has become a fundamental driver in the design and delivery of facades, as developers, architects and tenants demand a greener building, better aligned with today’s more responsible attitude towards the environment.  FMDC’s service includes proactive consideration of these issues, which now form a square of design drivers, which once extended to cost, quality and programme alone.

We understand the importance of embodied Carbon and recycled content in aluminium curtain walling facades, and are close to system suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure that an onerous specification can still be delivered, with multiple procurement options, in a competitive market.  We also understand the glass supplier market and the limitations/opportunities open to a project, to buy a more sustainable product.

We are looking to reuse natural stone from buildings to be demolished on sites, and reinstate this on the newly designed facades on multiple projects.

FMDC are working on buildings with Passivhaus performance aspirations, pushing boundaries in air-tightness and thermal performance requirements.  Our Building Physics specialists are expert in the analysis of facades to deliver these targets.

Our knowledge of materials and construction allows alternative solutions to be tested, which puts sustainability and environmental responsibility at the forefront of what we do.
