Our commitments

At FMDC we understand the importance for SMEs to play a part in responsible business.  We are a member of  Heart of the City, doing their online programme, ‘Foundations for Responsible Business’. With their support, we are developing activities around looking after our people’s health and wellbeing, supporting our local community and reducing our environmental impact. And this is all part of our responsible business strategy that helps our business to do well by doing good.

Our Footprint

Besides striving to reduce carbon emissions of the buildings we work on, we want to lead by example and commit to reducing our own business emissions. We are currently in the process of measuring our carbon footprint, including scope 1, 2 & 3 GHG emissions, with a view to sign up to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2024. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a partnership that ensures companies’ emissions reduction targets are consistent with achieving a Net Zero world by no later than 2050 and that they are aligned to a 1.5°C future.

Our People

Our people are our strength, so we constantly think about how we can better support them both inside and outside of the workplace. We have a strong staff benefits package in place, which gets updated and improved on a yearly basis. In recent years we have successfully implemented flexible working, based on trust and individual responsibilities. As an Employee Owned Trust we understand the importance of mental health and wellbeing and we are committed to providing a workplace that fosters equality, diversity and inclusion.

Our Community

As a Clerkenwell based company operating in architecture and construction, we consider our community both the local one and the wider industry. Since our inception we have been making yearly donations to charities, but we are now looking to expand our reach and make a more meaningful social impact. In the coming years we will be looking at opportunities at both company and employee level; from skilled volunteering to fundraising, from supporting education to partnerships with charities, with the aim to make a difference in the community.
