Walter Tull House – Tottenham Hale

Located in Tottenham Hale and part of the Heart of Hale masterplan by developers Argent, Walter Tull House is a residential project by Pollard Thomas Architects.
The development consists of three residential blocks organised around an enclosed communal courtyard and located above a podium comprising two levels of retail and amenities, including a new health centre.

The tallest block is a 16-storey tower providing a strong focal point at the tip of the site and from Tottenham Hale station, articulating a 7-storey block along Monument Way with a lower 4-6 storey L-shaped block on Chestnut Road.

The cladding of the building delivers a subtle play of soft red tones and textures, with handset brick work cladding punctuated by smooth and patterned reconstituted stone panels, powder coated aluminium rainscreen spandrels and projecting prefabricated steel balconies and inset terraces.

The podium incorporates tall punched glazed bays to the health centre and double height glazing to the residential entrance behind a brick colonnade on Park View Road, both built from aluminium stick curtain walling.

FMDC provided façade engineering services for the design of the cladding and as part of the Client Monitoring Team to Argent during construction stages.
