The Tomorrow Building, Manchester

The Tomorrow Building in Manchester is a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rated mixed-use project, completed in 2016. Ground and Mezzanine levels provide fun creative office and media space, with a further 6 floors of office above. The upper levels of the building provide a 112 bed hotel.
The project was winner of the BCO Northern 2017 award for ‘Best Commercial office’, and was highly commended at national level, in the same year.

Chapman Taylor were architects for the project, employing FMDC as sub-consultants, to progress the façade design in a pre-contract role only.

The office floors are naturally ventilated, using a bespoke design developed by the team, which included full-height opening windows and insulated vents to facilitate night-time purge.

The project was verified as Net-Zero Carbon in September 2020, using the UK Green Building Council 2019 framework definition.

The developer for the project was a JV between Peel and L&G Partnership, and was the first collaboration for FMDC with Chapman Taylor, which has since grown into other projects together, following the strong relationship built over many years, whilst key FMDC staff were at our previous employer.
