We are delighted to announce that FMDC Ltd have been shortlisted in the Innovation category for the Society of Façade Engineering (SFE) Facade 2025 Design & Engineering Awards for King’s Cross S4 (Capella). The project is a mixed-use building designed by Allies and Morrison Architects, located on Lewis Cubitt Square, a prime location in the Kings Cross Central development by property developers Related Argent. The facades are animated by slide-on prefabricated steel balconies of varying sizes, with aluminium and GRC soffits. The balconies are fixed to stubs cast into the precast concrete panels, an innovative solution eliminating the thermal bridge and challenging waterproofing details issues commonly associated with a traditional solution of stub fixings in the slab.
