The Role
- Participate in and actively contribute to design workshops, where cladding solutions are explored and determined, offering façade insights and recommendations to resolve façade-related technical challenges. Workshops will be with clients, architects and fellow professionals, and with the cladding industry.
- Recommending cladding strategies and detailed interface solutions, emphasizing holistic, integrated project outcomes.
- Carry out research on materials, products, and construction methodologies that would help achieve the architectural intent.
- Producing specifications, reports and coordinating the work of others.
- Conducting thorough evaluations on and reviewing cladding industry submittals.
- Witnessing testing and preparing associated technical reports.
- Carrying out factory visits, site inspections and preparing associated technical reports.
- Supervising and coordinating the work of other team members and coordinating work with building professionals of other disciplines efficiently.
- Communicating with clients effectively to establish their needs and maintaining a dialogue throughout the project.
- Managing project teams to ensure production of high-quality deliverables to agreed timelines and budgets.
- Ability to work well together with a team.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree qualified in Architecture, Engineering, Building Technology or a similar course.
3 – 5 years minimum working for a Tier 1, UK-based Façade Consultancy. - Enthusiastic, keen to learn and develop. The ability to fit into a vibrant, varied and talented team.
- Design skills associated with curtainwall and envelope detailing.
- A deep understanding of holistic building envelope processes, performance and design.
- Experience of 2-D CAD packages, (3d computer modelling is desired, but not essential).
- Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal).
- Cladding industry experience is desirable, but not essential.
- Able to understand the balance of priorities on multiple, differing projects.
- Able to quickly develop successful client relationships.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Be commercially aware.
