King’s Cross R8 – The Jelicoe

Photos of the recently completed King’s Cross R8 building (AKA Deltic House and the Jelicoe) by Piercy&Company architects, for developers Related Argent.
The Jelicoe is the commercial office component of Kings Cross R8, a twelve-storey building offering 9 levels of office floor plates above and below shared amenity spaces at street and roof levels. The gently curved façade opposite Jelicoe Gardens is clad with unitised curtain walling manufactured and installed by sub-contractor Focchi Group. The 3m wide curtain wall panels are arranged in a saw-tooth fashion and incorporate vertical GRC panels and horizontal string coursing by EDIL BETON – S.R.L., framing the glazing and giving the building its subtle yet striking presence. The ground floor is clad with aluminium stick curtain walling behind double height GRC piers, forming a colonnade at street level and further affirming the building’s position in its surrounding urban context.
FMDC Ltd were involved in the project from early design stages through to construction and King’s Cross R8 is one of several successful collaborations between FMDC Ltd and architects Piercy&Company.
