King’s Cross R8 – Deltic House

Photos of the recently completed King’s Cross R8 building (AKA Deltic House and the Jelicoe) by Piercy&Company architects, for developers Related Argent.
Deltic house is the residential component of Kings Cross R8, an eleven-storey residential building delivering 72 affordable apartments located above a shared podium garden and retail units at street level. The building façade on Harrier Street is animated by a striking play of inward curving, thermally broken precast concrete balconies manufactured by sub-contractor Techrete UK & Ireland. The remaining façades comprise straight projecting balconies, also by Techrete UK & Ireland, combined with inset loggias, Rieder facades GRC rainscreen cladding with vertical panels and projecting horizontal string coursing, punctuated by storey-height aluminium glazing by Nacwl.
FMDC Ltd were involved in the project from early design stages through to construction and King’s Cross R8 is one of several successful collaborations between FMDC Ltd and architects Piercy&Company.
