Isle of Portland

FMDC Ltd’s Bruno Miglio and Alessio Marostica together with Amy Holtz from PLP Architecture recently visited the Isle of Portland for the Holborn Viaduct project, for Client Royal London.

The aim of the visit was to look at new Portland stone to be used in conjunction with reclaimed stone on the new precast concrete cladding for the project. Many thanks to Albion Stone plc and Portland Stone Firms for presenting their Portland stone ranges to us and for the visit of the mine to see how the stone blocks are extracted.

The project is currently at PCSA stage with main contractor Multiplex and precast contractor Grants of Shoreditch (Grants Group). This is one of several projects for which FMDC Ltd‘s extensive stone and facade expertise is being used to help architects and clients achieve the optimal design and material solution.
