4 Pancras Square, Kings Cross

4 Pancras Square is a 10 storey office building on the Kings Cross estate designed by Eric Parry Architects.
FMDC were engaged by Eric Parry Architects in 2014 to assist with the development of the Stage 2 facade design and our appointment continued through to completion on site in 2018.

The external primary structure columns are weathering steel and are connected to internal structure via stainless steel stub connections that penetrate the facade.

Hook-on weathering steel spandrel panels complete the expressed primary structure at every second storey. The envelope is formed with unitised aluminium curtain wall panels, supplied by Focchi, that incorporate white glazed terracotta horizontal brise soleil.

Facade detailing was carefully considered to ensure that the weathering steel surfaces are subject to wet / dry cycles to form a stable patina and to minimise staining caused by the run-off from weathering steel onto adjacent surfaces.
