21 Moorfields

Designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects and located in the City of London, 21 Moorfields is the new London headquarters for Deutsche Bank

Supported by a steel exoskeleton carrying the floor plates, the building bridges over Moorgate station on 16 piles.

The complex façade, specified by FMDC and supplied by Gartner and Sterling Services, incorporates a wide variety of cladding types, including a closed cavity façade (CCF), unitised and stick curtain walling, fair-faced precast concrete cladding, structural glazing, GRC by Polycon and aluminium soffit cladding, stone rainscreen cladding, rooflights and glass balustrades.

FMDC carried out advanced 3D analysis for the point thermal transmittance and condensation risk for 27 structural primary structural penetrations through the façade.

Our scope also extended to checking the calculations for the internal glazing by OAG and the thermal roof calculations by Prater. We also carried out inspections of the precast concrete cladding elements.
